Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh Honors the Family Service Association as Nonprofit of the Year

Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R-Yucaipa) has chosen the Family Service Association (FSA) as the 2022 Nonprofit of the Year for the 23rd Senate District.

“Seeing a need in your community and then actively doing something about it speaks volumes of someone’s character. FSA’s founders did just that,” said Senator Ochoa Bogh. “Now, nearly 70 years later, FSA has grown into an essential and responsive non-profit that connects communities across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties with vital services. I am privileged to name them the 2022 Nonprofit of the year for Senate District 23.”

Accepting the award on behalf of Family Service Association, Chief Executive Officer Cheryl-Marie Hansberger said, "We are honored that Family Service Association was selected by Senator Ochoa Bogh as a California Nonprofit of the Year. This recognition comes at a time when we have been working hard to help our region recover from the pandemic and provide additional support to children, families and seniors across the Inland Empire. It’s especially meaningful now, but we got here because of our dedicated employees, volunteers and partners who are resilient and committed to the mission of Family Service Association."

The Junior League and local faith-based organizations in the City of Riverside, who had growing concerns when they saw the deterioration of local military families in the early 50s, founded the Family Service Association. Since then, FSA has grown to be one of the largest and most trusted multi-service non-profits in the Inland Empire.

From infancy to older adults, FSA has addressed poverty, hunger, and health in families and under-served communities. Through early education, trauma-informed mental health services, accessible senior housing, support for homebound individuals, safe senior/community centers, and nutritious meals for seniors, FSA’s team members serve over 13,000 community members each year.

This recognition is part of a larger celebration of CalNonprofits’ “California Nonprofits Day”. The recognition as a Nonprofit of the Year brings deserved attention to outstanding nonprofits while illustrating the remarkable diversity and vibrancy of California's nonprofit community.
