Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R-Yucaipa) issued the following statement after the Senate approved Senate Bill 2:
“We must do everything we can to foster an environment that welcomes those who serve with heart and protect individuals that serve with integrity. However, we should also have an efficient system of due process and accountability for those who fail to uphold the oaths they swore to protect and serve.
“I have concerns with the make-up of the decertification board. I am a strong believer in fair treatment and due process under the law in our country, which is why I do support a decertification process, but having only 2 of 9 members who understand the perspective of law enforcement and can provide valuable insight, creates a system that lacks proper balance."
