SB 985: Ensuring Access to Nonprofit Financial Counselors

Senate Bill 985 grants nonprofit financial counseling agencies a one-time adjustment to their fee schedule so they can continue providing debt management and settlement services. Amending the fee cap ensures more Californians have access to financial counseling at a time when consumer debt is at an all-time high, and allows these agencies to expand their services to help more consumers gain financial freedom, especially those in underserved communities.
