Today Senator Suzette Martinez Valladares (R-Santa Clarita) announced that more than $10 million in direct state investments is headed to communities across Senate District 23, including several projects Senator Valladares helped secure as part of the state budget package (AB 113) just signed by Governor Newsom.
"Our communities send plenty of money to Sacramento," said Sen. Valladares. "I've fought to make sure some of those dollars come back home, to invest in our community and our future."
The investments touch every corner of the district, from the Santa Clarita Valley to the Antelope Valley to the Victor Valley and High Desert, funding practical, on-the-ground projects: lake and storm damage repairs, a fire station upgrade, support for veterans, park improvements, and help for small businesses and local economic development.
Projects included in the budget package for Senate District 23:
$5 million - Castaic Lake boat ramp repairs
$2.7 million - Phelan/Pinon Hills storm repairs
$885,000 - Hesperia Recreation & Park District storm repairs
$575,000 - Victorville Civic Center Plaza
$250,000 - Palmdale American Legion renovations
$250,000 - Antelope Valley EV infrastructure
$150,000 - Hesperia Fire Station 305 HVAC
$100,000 - AV EDGE economic development and job recruitment
$100,000 - AV Chambers small-business assistance and micro-grants
$75,000 - Clean drinking water stations for students and teachers at Hughes Elizabeth Lakes Union Elementary School
The budget package also keeps Antelope Valley College's Gymnasium Replacement project moving forward through its working-drawings phase, reappropriating the project's remaining balance to keep it on track.
"Too often, our communities feel overlooked by Sacramento," Sen. Valladares said. "Santa Clarita, the Antelope Valley, and the Victor Valley deserve their fair share, and I'm going to keep fighting to make sure we get it."
Senator Valladares will continue working with state officials to secure additional resources for Senate District 23.
