State Senator Suzette Martinez Valladares (R-Santa Clarita) will host a free Financial Aid Application Workshop this Saturday, October 17, to help students and families navigate college funding resources like FASFA, Cal Grants, scholarships, and many others.
The workshop is open to high school seniors, current college students and incoming college students. Sessions will be held in English and Spanish.
"Paying for college can feel overwhelming, but no student should have to figure it out alone," said Senator Valladares. "Completing your financial aid application is one of the most important steps you can take for your future. We want every student in the Antelope Valley to have the opportunity to turn their dreams into reality."
Attendees will receive help applying for all forms of financial aid, including Cal Grants, scholarships and loans. Representatives from Antelope Valley College, CSU Bakersfield Antelope Valley and San Joaquin Valley College will also share information about programs offered right here in the community.
High school seniors who attend the presentation or receive one-on-one help will be entered into drawings including for one of 50 $1,000 scholarships provided by UNITE-LA. Winners will be announced in May 2027. Students who show proof of a completed FAFSA or CADAA will also have a chance to win a card at each session, courtesy of UNITE-LA. The scholarships and gift cards are not paid for at taxpayer expense.
